Teabaggers Unite

Internet jokesters are having loads of fun at the expense of right wing organizations that appear to be blissfully ignorant of commonly used terms and acronyms. First it was the Tea Party movement, which seems unaware that there are other connotations of the term ‘teabagging.’ (Obvously, they’re not John Waters fans.)

Now it’s the National Organization for Marriage, which held a press conference to announce its nationwide “2 Million for Marriage” initiative using the Craigslisty acronym 2M4M. As Box Turtle points out, it’s perhaps not a great choice for a campaign designed to highlight “the threat that same-sex marriage poses to the core civil rights of all Americans who believe in marriage as the union of a husband and wife.”

To avoid further embarrassment, Happy Valley News Hour has compiled the following guide for planners of future right wing rallies, events, and organizations.

  • For an anti-Obama rally to be held in Minnesota in February: The Snowballing Festival
  • For an anti-PETA rally: Furries Unite!
  • For the Ayn Rand Book Club (Foggy Bottoms chapter): The Randy Bottoms
  • For the Salvation Mission of the Boston Diocese: BDSM.
  • For an anti-gay-marriage rally to be held in Ohio in the middle of July: The Cleveland Steamer
  • For the Society for Tax Freedom Unlimited: STFU
  • Super secret code name (with accompanying hand gesture) for a super secret plan whereby Republicans will retake the House and Senate in the next midterm elections: The Shocker

  1. C.C. says:

Love them or hate them, at least the Republicans have the balls to stand up for what they consider right, even when it isn’t. The Dems? Promise everything to everyone, and piss off the grassroots that got you elected. Ya, that’s a great idea.
