The World’s End versus Tommy Saxondale

Have you seen The World’s End?

It was a worthy addition to the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost/Edgar Wright trilogy (the first two parts being Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz). This one was essentially a combination of the first two movies, but good fun nonetheless.

I thought that Simon Pegg’s character in the movie borrowed heavily from Steve Coogan’s hilarious Tommy Saxondale. At the very least, both characters are cut from the same cringy cloth. If you haven’t seen it, do check out Saxondale on Netflix Instant. Saxondale may well be one of those characters who is actually too accurate, because he is brilliant in small doses but insufferable over the course of an entire season. The second clip below has my favorite joke of the entire series (“You had me at Caress of Steel The Necromancer, Part Three: Return of the Prince.”).
