The Top Ten Beatles Songs of All Time, Corrected

USA Today started a tempest in a virtual teapot first by asking what are the 20 best Beatles songs and then answering incorrectly.

USA Today’s list:
1. Ticket to Ride
2. I Want to Hold Your Hand
3. Day in the Life
4. Eleanor Rigby
5. Norwegian Wood
6. Penny Lane
7. Hey Jude
8. Strawberry Fields Forever
9. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
10. The Fool on the Hill

A worthy attempt, but incorrect nonetheless. Those of you who are on the kamper/Twinkly Sparkles Christmas card mailing list already know the answer to this question (as it was the subject of our much coveted 2011 card), but for those of you who are not, here are the correct lists, according to our four fab family members: (note that the lists are alphabetical as asking for a ranking of the top ten would have meant the card still would not be finished)

  1. Baby You’re a Rich Man???

Personally, I’m OK with Ticket to Ride as #1. I never, ever, ever, ever get tired of it.

Yeah, “Baby You’re a Rich Man” sounds like one of the few LP fillers the Beatles ever did. 3rd-class music/lyrics.

    • kamper says:

Shocked, shocked at the hate for “Baby, You’re a Rich Man.” Love this song. Must be a family thing. Oh, and you’re off the Christmas card too.

  3. LOL. Lurker, couldn’t agree more. The chorus just always sounds like yelling to me.

  4. pt dismal says:

the major offender here is magical mystery tour–wtf? on both dad’s and mom’s lists?

at least the usa toady [sic] list has a decent george song on it, but no taxman on any list? geezus–it has one of the great riffs on it, which was played by freaking paul!

i would pretty much just list revolver, maybe switching out yellow sub for what goes on–cause nobdy here is giving ringo a freaking break!

    ptd

  5. pt dismal says:

it’s coming to take you away, kamper.
