Out on the Tiles

I don’t know why, but I find this extensive gallery of floors in paintings at The Hairpin to be oddly comforting. Something about an accurately rendered floor seems quite reassuring, like all is well with the world. Click over to see the whole paintings that feature these two floors, along with many more.

interesting. mostly tile or stone floors here–what about the comfort and solidity of a good hardwood floor? i’m surprising they missed “the floor scrapers.” i am incapable of inserting a picture here, but google the title for a nice wood floor as well as a great portrayal of manual labor that we can now rent from home depot (i mean floor sanders not day laborers).
