Abandon all shame, ye who enter here

A few days ago, I highlighted a couple of examples of Republicans (Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, in this case) saying things that didn’t quite make sense, if one defines “making sense” as “having anything whatsofucking ever to do with life on Planet Earth.” And then today Florida Republicans acted pretty dumb when they banned the use of the word uterus from the state house. But, in fairness, not everything that Republicans say these days is stupid, of course. Some of it is shameful.

Such as:

That’s Indiana state Rep. Eric Turner (R), arguing that allowing a “rape or incest” provision in his draconian abortion bill (which would make most abortions illegal after 20 weeks) would prompt women to lie about being raped and incested to get abortions.

Here is Angry Black Lady at Balloon Juice suggesting what Rep. Turner might do with himself.

And then there’s this:

Yes, that is Montana’s Teabagger congressman (and bar owner) Alan Hale sounding like he should sleep it off before he next speaks on the record. Here is more background on this charmer, and here is his semi-literate platform statement. A sample:

There are four issues that are very important to me, as a fiscal conservative I know that we cannot continue to allow the kind of spending that we are witnessing at this time with the lace of revenue producing enterprises, such as mining, logging, oil, gas and agriculture, compiled with a budget increase of 43% in the last four years we have a problem; under the current administration the projected budget for 2011 is a whopping 3.6 billion dollars what happened to the days when we thought a million dollars was a large sum of money?

The man who wrote that got elected to Congress. Just think about that. I do love the semicolon though; really clears things up.

So don’t worry, drunk drivers, Rep. Hale’s got your back – so long as you don’t try to unionize. Or as TBogg says, it is a well known fact that the word “breathalyzer” is nowhere to be found in the Federalist Papers.

Well, at least the Republicans still have a sense of humor. Here’s Arizona Rep. Ben Quayle, son of the former vice president, doing a high-larious seven minute bit at the Congressional Correspondents’ Dinner.

Boy, did THAT guy choose the wrong profession. He should totally be a standup comedian and shit. Like, did you ever notice when you ban abortion and then this lady lies about being raped to get an abortion? No? Well, it might go something like this . . .

i wish the majority of hoosiers would recognize turner is a douche-bag and never vote for him again. watching the democratic rep who spoke after him gave me some hope that reasonable people exist in indiana. time to send more money to planned parenthood.

  3. missdisplaced says:

I want to go the Florida State House walk around and start saying “uterus, uterus, Uterus, UTERUS pussy, pussy, Pussy, PUSSY” over and over again to everyone I see.

I could claim that Jesus was making me speak in tongues.
    Think they would tazer me?
