Good Lord, these people just can’t help themselves.
Two South Carolina County Republican Party chairmen wrote an editorial in an Orangeburg, South Carolina newspaper on Sunday in defense of Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). The two men — Bamberg County GOP Chairman Edwin Merwin and Orangeburg County GOP Chairman James Ulmer — were responding to criticism from a Democratic state senator that DeMint didn’t bring enough money back to the state.
The two esteemed gentlemen — adults, remember, and ostensible leaders of the crumbling Republican party — put on their thinking caps and sharpened up their No. 2 pencils (or maybe Crayolas) and . . . came up with the following:
There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves. By not using earmarks to fund projects for South Carolina and instead using actual bills, DeMint is watching our nation’s pennies and trying to preserve our country’s wealth and our economy’s viability to give all an opportunity to succeed.
The funniest part of this is that you know right now these two guys are totally baffled as to why there’s anything wrong with what they wrote.
